How to Participate in Our Consortium: A Step-by-Step Guide

Thank you for supporting the creation of new music through New Works Project! Joining one of our consortiums allows you to contribute to the creation of new music and provide paying work for composers from all underrepresented communities. Whether you’re a soloist, part of a chamber ensemble, or working within an educational or community group, or just an audience member that loves contemporary classical music there’s a place for you in this collaborative process. Here’s how you can get involved:

Step 1: Choose How You Want to Participate

We believe in making music creation accessible to everyone. There are multiple ways to get involved:

  • Donate Directly: Contribute to the consortium by making a direct donation. Your name will be listed as a contributor in the final score, but this option does not include copies of the music or other rewards. Additionally, you have the ability to support performers without the financial means seeking to participate in the creation and performance of new music.

  • Register as a Consortium Participant: By becoming a Consortium Participant, you can join our peer-to-peer fundraising model, track your progress, and unlock exclusive rewards. This means that performers without the financial means can use their networks and audiences to participate.

    • $75–$100: Your name in the score and a digital copy of the piece as a thank-you gift.

    • $101–$150: Your name in the score and a print copy of the piece as a thank-you gift.

    • $150+: Your name in the score and both digital and print copies of the piece as thank-you gifts.

All Consortium Participants receiving a copy of the piece ($75+ tier or higher) will also enjoy 12 months of exclusive performance rights upon 100% funding of the project.

Step 2: Spread the Word

Help us build momentum by sharing the project on social media. Every share brings us closer to our fundraising goal, allowing more people to participate in the creation of new music. Encourage friends, colleagues, and fellow musicians to join the journey!

Step 3: Collaborate and Create

Participating in a consortium means being an active part of the music-making process. You’ll:

  • Engage with the Composer: Share insights and feedback as the piece is developed.

  • Stay Updated: Receive regular progress reports from the composer and the New Works Project team.

Step 4: Perform and Celebrate

Once the work is completed, you’ll be among the first to bring it to life. This is your chance to:

  • Showcase Your Artistry: Perform a unique, new composition.

  • Expand Your Repertoire: Add exciting, exclusive works to your performances.

  • Inspire Your Audience: Share the story of the collaborative journey that created the music.

Step 5: Stay Engaged

Your involvement doesn’t stop after the performance. As part of our community, you can:

  • Support Future Projects: Share your experience and help us continue building a vibrant, diverse music ecosystem.

  • Join Our Community: Participate in forums, events, and workshops designed to connect and inspire musicians.
