Sophia Lo

Yamaha Young Performing Artist Chin-Li Sophia Lo joined Heartland Marimba in 2021. Currently based in Dallas, TX, Lo has performed concerts in Dvorak Hall, Slovak Radio Hall, Bela Bartok National Concert Hall, as well as music festivals around the globe such as Percussion Meets Identity (Austria), the Beta Percussion International Institute, the International Katarzyna Mycka Marimba Academy, the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, and the Zeltsman Marimba Festival. Lo is an award winning veteran of high profile solo competitions like Great Plains International, Mid-Missouri Percussive Arts Trophy, and placed 2nd at 2024 Southern California Marimba International Artist Competition as part of MouSai Duo. In addition to her performance career, she is a passionate educator and presents masterclasses at schools around the country. Highlights include OKPAS Day of Percussion and Kansas PAS Drum Days. She is currently a private lesson teacher at Allen ISD. Lo is a doctoral candidate and former graduate teaching fellow at the University of North Texas. Outside of music, you can find her spending time in her cozy kitchen with her 2 cats or at the rock climbing gym.
