Hannah Ransom

Dr. Hannah Ransom is a percussionist and music educator whose work has been informed by continued passion for concert percussion, immersion in world traditions, and advocacy for diversity in the fields of music performance and composition. She has performed at international events including the Mizzou International Composers Festival and the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) World Showcase, and traveled to study with master musicians in both Indonesia and Ghana. Currently based in her hometown of Missoula, MT, she teaches percussion lessons and coaches young percussionists in local schools. She performs with symphony orchestras around the state, ad-hoc chamber groups, and alongside her husband as Desert Fantasy, an electro-acoustic percussion duo featuring original music. As a soloist, she focuses on realizing contemporary compositions for marimba and multi-percussion and greatly enjoys transcribing guitar music for the marimba. Hannah received a DMA from the University of Arizona, a MM from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and bachelor’s degrees in music education and performance from the University of Montana.
